I am currently studying A Level Textiles, Fine Art and Psychology at Oldham Sixth form college and would like to pursue a career in Fashion Design. I am interested in the BA (Hons) Fashion at MMU because of the fantastic reputation and facilities you have and I believe that you would help me to develop as a designer.
I have chosen to select pieces from my A level and some GCSE work so you can see my progression as a potential fashion student. Also, I have tried to select work which illustrates a variety of media and my journey throughout the course. 

 

This is a portrait which I created when analysing the work of Alan Coulson. I used acrylic to paint the portrait.

This is an example of a tonal drawing which is from my first unit of AS Fine art. The theme of this particular project is machinery. The size of this drawing is A3 and I have used H, HB, 2B and 4B pencils to create this. 

     This is a loose and expressive observational sketch which was created using charcoal and white acrylic paint on brown parcel paper.

These are etchings I have created as experiments from a collage inspired by my theme of fashion. This is from Unit 3 of my A2 Fine art project and I have printed the etchings several times and painted on one of them with watercolour to demonstrate development of work. 

I have chosen to select this page from my personal study in one of current projects in Textiles because it demonstrates my analytical  skills as well as my designing skills. Here, I have analysed a piece from Elie Saab's 2011 Spring/Summer Haute Couture collection; he is one of my favourite fashion designers.

This is an example of one of my current projects from Fine art where I have researched an artist, Peter Bonde, and developed my own experimentation inspired by his work. Here I have painted a black and white portrait of Twiggy and applied heavy and expressive brush strokes, which is inspired by his technique and style of painting.

As part of my initial research I have created a mood board of gowns I was being inspired by for when developing ideas. I often create mood boards as I find them useful for stimulating initial ideas. Also, the theme for this textile project was Greece.

This is a developmental painting from my Unit 2 Fine art project inspired by catastrophic events. I created this painting to assist me to develop my final piece as it allowed me to experiment with the composition as well as the colours.

When creating my initial designs in my first unit of Textiles which is inspired by recycling and bones, I started developing samples of how the design would look like. Throughout this project I employed calico as my chosen fabric and here I have used pin tucking as a technique.

This is my final piece from my Unit 2 project in Fine art, which is inspired by Catastrophic events. I have used acrylic paint to create this piece and it is A2 size.

This is a final piece from my Unit 1 in AS Textiles which is inspired by recycling. The corset was created using the technique of pin tucking the calico fabric and weaving cassette tapes, which I enjoyed making. It is a size 10 and has eyelets as a form of fastening at the back.

This is a final piece from my GCSE textiles project, which is inspired by Greece and the fashion designer Elie Saab. The gown is made from red chiffon and has polyester lining and is decorated using 3D appliqué and intricate beading work.  

This is a painting from my current project in Fine art, which is inspired by Contrasting surface textures and Fashion. It is a mixed media piece and is an A2 size.
